Just a Quick Background!

You probably know by now that I came from Wanhua District. So, how on earth did I end up becoming a Pinoy TV fan when Taiwan’s entertainment industry is not too bad? Well, blame my nanny for that. Manang Emy (She said Manang means old lady) is a massive fan of ‘teleserye’ and Eat Bulaga. Back in 2000 (yes, I am turning 26), her relatives will frequently send her piles of recorded shows in VCD format. I remember being fascinated by the local culture of the Philippines after watching Kirara. She served as our official translator; she will make funny gestures and expressions when conveying the story. It took a while before we learned some basic Tagalog phrases and about six years until I can finally say that I can carry out a normal Tagalog conversation.

Manang Emy's Words to Live By

"Always add 'po' to your sentence. It is a sign of respect,"

"Kasicellphone mo yan"

"Wala ko sabot"

"Pagkayawa naman lang gyud"

"Amaw ka"
